As an integral part of the TRC's direct network, we would like to personally invite you to participate in our Transportation Research Expo poster session. The poster session is open to any transportation related project, not just research projects. Please join us if you are working on a program or project that you are interested in promoting to the community.
 
The Transportation Research Expo is an opportunity to showcase innovative research and initiatives with respect to critical issues facing the field of transportation. It is also an occasion to build support for sustainable communities in Vermont and throughout the world. 
 
Highlights of this year's event include opening remarks from Brian Searles, Secretary of the Vermont Agency of Transportation, poster session and student poster contest. A keynote address will be given by Michael P. Lewis, Director of Rhode Island Department of Transportation and President of American Association of State Highway and Transportation Officials. The expo will also showcase the following transportation-related panel presentations:
  • Overview of Environment. Community. Opportunity. Sustainability. (ECOS) project. 
  • Discussion with Robert Manning, author of  Walking Distance
  • Moving Forward: Lessons Learned from Sandy and Irene.
 

Please submit a summary of your poster idea or poster abstract by March 6th. Final electronic versions of posters must be submitted by March 25th. Please submit to Alexandra Evarts at the TRC (transctr@uvm.edu).

The UVM TRC integrates research, graduate education, and workforce development, focusing on promoting sustainable transportation systems and planning through the study of risk and resiliency, especially in northern, rural, exurban and micropolitan contexts. It provides unbiased expertise for communities and public agencies pursuing sustainable transportation solutions, while advancing the field of transportation research at the national and international levels. We define risk and resiliency broadly as critical performance measures of the efficiency, sustainability and equity of transportation systems. Our focus on risk and resiliency incorporates the study of factors that compromise mobility and strategies that promote society's successful adaptation and responsiveness to these risk factors.
