The Future of Transportation Funding in Vermont
Billings North Lounge, UVM
Tuesday, December 4th 4:00 - 5:30 p.m.
This event is the final class for the TRC312 course called "Critical Issues in Transportation for the 21st Century." The goal of this panel is for the students and members of the public to discuss and interact with representatives from different levels of government on the funding of transportation in Vermont. With revenues expected to be held constant or decrease, costs expected to rise and our infrastructure aging past its prime, how will we fund transportation and what will be our priorities? Join us to hear from our panelists on how Vermont will adapt to this new environment, what innovative strategies are under consideration and where critical challenges still remain impacting our economic, social and environmental future.
Panelists:
At the local level: Joan Shannon, President, Burlington City Council
At the regional level: Michele Boomhower, Director, Chittenden County Metropolitan Planning Organization
At the state level: Brian Searles, Secretary, VT Agency of Transportation
At the national level: Matthew Hake, VT Division Administrator, Federal Highways Administration
