The holiday season is nearly here, and we are grateful for so many blessings as we pause to reflect on the things that really count.

We know you're pressed, so here's a short and sweet policy update about all things maternal.

Happy Thanksgiving,

Mom-mentum (formerly National Association of Mothers' Centers
provides programs that empower mothers, fathers and caregivers to find solutions that work for their families, their work lives and their personal lives.

A Day in the Life of a Stay At Home Dad

If some women's income can support the whole family, the other parent may decide to stay home full time. What is life like for the stay-at-home father? Perhaps isolating just like for many mothers. So, they hold a convention. Some may wonder why fathers need a convention at all. But these men said the answer was simple: They wanted other dads to talk to. Full-time fathers get some coverage from the New York Times.
 Senator Warren Steps Up

Elizabeth Warren's talent for connecting with people hasn't gone unnoticed.  After the bruising mid-terms, Democratic leaders are giving her a more prominent role.  According to Politico, Senator Dick Durbin of Illinois said, "She is smart, she is effective, she knows how to deliver a message that really resonates with working families."

Should Child Care Workers Earn More?

Child care workers, needed so parents can go to work themselves,

continue to make near-poverty wages. Yet child care costs have doubled in the past 15 years.  Another paradox - children's brain development hits maximum from 0 to age 5, but the people who care for them have little economic security.
