Making women and mothers stronger is so important! It means making families more stable, communities safer, the economy stronger, and this country a place where everyone can realize their potential.


As the Thanksgiving holiday nears, we're grateful for the opportunities we've had to impact so many women and mothers' lives. Help us to do more! Join the "I am Mom-mentum" Campaign by submitting a photo of you, your kids or your family holding the  "I am Mom-mentum" sign. All email submissions are due by Friday, November 21st 9AMWe will pick one winner and send you an awesome Mom-mentum gift basket.

    • Print out the sign.
    • Identify an interesting place and/or people to take the photo with.
    • Sign the release
    • Email the release and your photo to info@mom-mentum.org
    • Please put "I AM MOM-MENTUM" in the subject line.

Introducing Our Newest Staff Member
Melanie Denzer: Group Development Manager

We are thrilled to announce that Melanie Denzer, a member of the Mothers' Center of Southwest Nassau, has accepted the role of Mom-mentum Group Development Manager. In her new role, Melanie ultimately will be responsible for maintaining support for and building a larger community of Mothers' Center Groups. In the beginning, Melanie's work will focus on expanding our Mothers' Center Groups. Welcome Melanie!

What Changed for Women?

The big news is that for the first time in US history, there are 100 women in the US Congress. Due to a special election in North Carolina, Alma Adams (D-NC) will take her seat immediately in the current session, pushing women's numbers to the highest ever. Award-winning nonfiction writer Janice Lynch Schuster shares her life lessons from her grandmother and experiences as an undergraduate math student on what caregivers need most.
 

"When I was a child and desperately wanted some thing, my grandmother would say, "Don't let your wants hurt you." Instead, she would tell me, be grateful for having what I needed. The second is a mathematical concept of necessary and sufficient conditions. The concept has to do with the truth of statements-in real life, it is the truth of two conditions."
