Greetings!

The NAMC has joined Caring Across Generations in support of the Family Care Act.

In just a few days, Caring Across Generations will be delivering our petition supporting the FAMILY Act to members of Congress. More than 15,000 Caring Across members have signed in the last 48 hours - will you join them?

The Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act, shortened to the FAMILY Act, would help millions of American families struggling with the difficult choice between caring for a loved one (or their own medical needs) and their paychecks.

We shouldn't have to sacrifice the economic security of our families to provide necessary care for ourselves, our aging parents or grandparents, or our children or grandchildren.

Let your representatives in Congress know that we need their support for this crucial legislation and that we need it now, before they end their session for the year in a few weeks. Every signature makes a difference. Sign now.

 Tell Congress:

It's time to support working families by
co-sponsoring the FAMILY Act

Currently only 1 in 10 Americans have access to paid family leave, which includes taking time off to care for a newborn baby or an aging parent. Millions are forced to choose between caring for their families and keeping their paychecks - a choice no one should have to make.

This difficult decision would be made easier by the Family and Medical Insurance Leave Act (shortened to the FAMILY Act). The FAMILY Act, a national paid leave program, would allow people to receive a portion of their pay when they need time away from their jobs for family or medical reasons.

Representative Rose DeLauro of Connecticut is gearing up to introduce this crucial bill to Congress, but so far only 20 members of the House have committed to join her in co-sponsoring it.

Congress has just a few more weeks in session for the rest of the year - if thousands around the country sign today, we can show them that our families need this bill now, without further delay.
Will you add your name to support the FAMILY Act?

At some point, we all need time away from work to recover from a serious illness, or to care for a loved one - yet the overwhelming majority of Americans cannot take this time without sacrificing their economic security.

Current U.S. policies are not adequately addressing our individual health and economic needs, nor those of our families. Many of us are juggling work while also worrying about how to take care of our aging parents or grandparents, our children or grandchildren, and sometimes multiple family members.

Tell Congress that we need better policies like the FAMILY Act that support working families taking care of our loved ones.
Sign today because you believe American workers should not have to go without pay when we need to take care of our families or our own medical needs.

Caring Across Generations brings together aging Americans, people with disabilities, workers, and their families. We work to protect all Americans' right to choose the care and support they need to live with dignity.

Numerous studies have shown that there are tremendous benefits to having paid leave programs, including stronger, healthier families and a more stable workforce and economy. Join us in telling our representatives in Congress: It's time to introduce, stand behind, and pass legislation that supports our families and caregivers.
Can you take 30 seconds and sign this petition urging members of Congress to co-sponsor the FAMILY Act?

With care and appreciation,

Your (Wo)man in Washington and the Caring Across Generations Team

PS: If we stand together and ask our representatives in Congress to support working families by signing this petition, we can get them to step up and co-sponsor the FAMILY Act. Sign today.
