Mothers' Center of Fort Collins  works at incorporating both family time and parent-only time by encouraging family friendly activities and also having a strong babysitting co-op program. This program allows interested families to get a FREE night of babysitting, in turn giving parents a little time to focus on themselves.

Natural disasters are challenging for anyone to go through. The impact lasts long after the stories have faded from the news. While adults might have a difficult time, children can be especially impacted and they need someone to make sense of it all for them. The National Child Traumatic Stress Network website has important resources and information about recovery from disaster for parents and children.

holiday with family
It's easy to love this time of year AND dread it all at the same time. The holidays should be a happy time of year, but somehow all of the shopping and demands on our schedules can make it exhausting and rob us of the joy.

Why not look at ways you can enjoy the holidays more this year? Here's one post we like with suggestions for eliminating some of the stress and increasing special memories with your family. Enjoy Holiday Traditions.
Resource2Teach Your Children to Be Thankful  Hands in thanks

Being thankful is not limited to one day a year. Acknowledging what we have to be thankful for helps us remember how blessed we are, even in the midst of difficulties. Expressing gratitude to others for who they are and what they do for us helps them feel valued and helps us to remember to appreciate the wonderful people we have in our lives.

How do you teach your children to be thankful throughout the year? Prevent Child Abuse New York offers some ideas. And be sure to check out this Mothers Central blog post for one mother's note to her children.
