Curious What You Can Do with Publisher?
Publisher is one of those programs that many people have on their computers but haven't opened or spent much time exploring. If you need to create professional-looking mailings, flyers, and other documents, however, Publisher is a great tool to use. It offers far easier and better control over complicated text placement than Word or PowerPoint can, and it comes with hundreds of free templates to help you get started as well. We don't include Publisher on the public class schedule very often, but there's a class coming up next month. You can attend Publisher 2010 Creating Publications on January 29 at 1:00 CST. Register now! |
New Virtual Classroom Schedule
The course schedules for public classes in the virtual classroom from December through February are now available. The schedule includes a variety of Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio, Project, OneNote, and Windows 90 Minute Workouts, as well as several one-on-one application support sessions. See our course catalog for complete descriptions. We currently offer Office 2007 and 2010 classes in our virtual classroom. Be sure to choose the appropriate version when you register. Still using Office 2003? Sign up for a one-on-one application support session, or contact us to schedule a private class for up to ten people from your organization. Take just 90 minutes out of your day to learn a new skill or two, and realize the benefits in increased productivity immediately! |
Tip of the Month
Reshaping a Drawn Shape
If you've inserted shapes in your Word documents, PowerPoint presentations, or Excel worksheets, you've probably noticed that several of the shapes you can draw have a small yellow diamond somewhere along the border that connects the shape's sizing handles. (Both the sizing handles and the yellow diamond are visible only when the shape is selected.) This yellow diamond is called the adjustment handle. You can click and drag the adjustment handle to adjust certain parts of the shape, thereby changing the look of the shape. See the examples below. Not all shapes have an adjustment handle, but many do. Some even have more than one adjustment handle. If you can't find exactly the right shape in the gallery of shapes to insert, try inserting a similar shape and using the adjustment handle to tweak it as necessary!
To learn more about using shapes in Office, attend the PowerPoint 2010 Working with Pictures, Audio, & Video or the Office 2007 Drawing, Clip Art, & WordArt 90 Minute Workout in our virtual classroom! |
