Dear Earth Clinic Member,

Change is constant, necessary, and unavoidable yet not entirely outside of our own control; and it is for that reason that we reawaken our newsletter for this introduction to Francoise Courty-Dan, a Feng Shui consultant trained in the classical Chinese tradition. If you haven't considered integrating Feng Shui into your home and office, this might be a good time to do so. Toward that end we have asked Francoise, a.k.a. The French Feng Shui Lady, to offer up an introduction as to what this ancient science can offer in the way of improved health.

As always, a recent highlight from the website follows, and if you haven't visited us in awhile there have been a variety of new content areas added to our treasury of complementary and alternative health. Perhaps even the secret to your own season of healthy change!

An Introduction to Feng Shui & Health

Classical Feng Shui is an ancient art and living science that uses very sophisticated and complex methods to enhance life through energy. It can improve

your wealth, relationships, health, and loFeng Shui Compassngevity.

There is a popular misconception that Feng Shui is all about wealth in the sense of prosperity, money, and getting rich. Although it can definitely contribute to

improving your finances, wealth has a much larger meaning in Feng Shui and includes relation-ships, career, and health. After all, how can one have a good life and enjoy it without good relationships and good health?

Good Feng Shui in your home can help you rejuvenate body and mind, recover more rapidly from illnesses, minimize complications, and support good health.

Of course, having your house Feng Shui-ed should not keep you from having a good diet, exercising regularly, and living a healthy lifestyle.

According to Classical Feng Shui, someone's life is based on the 3 aspects of the Cosmic Trinity ("Tien-Di-Ren" in Chinese), which means HEAVEN Luck (Tien), EARTH Luck (Di), and HUMAN Luck (Ren). Each aspect contributes 1/3 to our success in life. Heaven Luck is 1/3 of our luck; it is our Destiny. Human Luck is also 1/3 of our luck; it is what we achieve by our own efforts. And finally, Earth Luck, the last third of our luck, is Feng Shui, the art of harnessing the forces of nature.

We follow a holistic approach and always look at the health issues when we analyze a project site, even if the occupants do not ask for it. After analysis, we make suggestions so that clients can maximize their health in their current space, prevent accidents and injuries, and remain healthy. Needless to say, Feng Shui is not a cure for health problems and should not replace medical advice and treatment. However, it can be used as a supplement to enhance your health and well-being.

So let's get practical...

In order to maximize your health and well-being, a house must be properly supported in the back, right and left side - support can be in the form of a retaining wall, thick landscaping, or a building. For instance, if there is no support on the right-hand side - which is on the right as you look out your front door, it may indicate sickness for the female of the house.

Your gua number, determined by your gender and the date of your birth, gives relevant information about your health such as specific vulnerable issues and emotional make-up. Look up your gua number here

Most importantly, your gua number determines your Tien Yi, your personal direction for great health and should be activated; and your Liu Sha, your personal direction that can bring accidents, poor health and serious illnesses that should not be activated.

The kitchen and the bedroom are the two most important rooms for health in the home. The kitchen, because it is where we prepare the food necessary to our well-being, and because its quality has a direct impact on our health. The bedroom, because sleep is also vital for survival, and with sleep, our body relaxes, rejuvenates, and repairs itself. Consequently, the energy in the kitchen and the bedroom is essential to our health.

Additionally, Feng Shui can determine the best places for relaxing and rejuvenating in your home.

If you are interested in a truly holistic approach to your health, this is just the surface of what can be achieved with Classical Feng Shui, and we encourage you to look more deeply to the benefits it offers.

Bonne santé et longue vie!

Rheumatoid Arthritis and Bacterial Infection Connection

06/04/2013: Branwen from Baldwinsville, New York United States: "Dear Ray of Calgary, I was astonished to read what you had written with regard to the discovery of a connection made between antibodies to proteus/urinary tract infection as a causative factor in Rheumatoid Arthritis. Thank you for including the link to the research article!

In 1995 I was diagnosed with sero-negative RA almost immediately following a miscarriage while being treated simultaneously with Ampicillin for a urinary tract infection. Although I had a urinary tract infection, the ER decided upon a D&C procedure. Three days later, I was totally incapacitated and bedridden from the sudden onset of what I know now to be RA. I won't go into too much detail about the last 17 years, but I have been managing this disease with diet, and without medications as much as I possibly can. I did finally decide to go on the minocycline antibiotic protocol, and that helped alot, but I weaned myself from the antibiotics in February 2013, after about six months of low-dose antibiotic treatment. I was feeling absolutely perfect, and thought I could discontinue at that point, which may have been premature. (I just don't like to be on medications at all, if possible). Eight weeks ago, in early April 2013, I started symptoms of a urinary tract infection. Within a few weeks, I was no longer in remission, and began another flare of RA, which is ongoing at this time, June 2013.

I had never read that there was a connection between urinary tract infections and RA, but, as with your wife, this seems to be how my disease was activated as well. I always suspected a bacterial connection, as immediately after my miscarriage and simultaneous treatment with ampicillin for the urinary tract infection, I became highly allergic to ampicillin and all antibiotics in the penicillin family. I was also suddenly highly allergic to aged cheese. Penicillin and aged cheese causes severe, debilitating pain in my joints and muscles, and flare ups of RA that last for months at a time. I seem prone to urinary tract infections, and now that you have brought this connection to light, in going back in time, urinary tract infections have always resulted in a flare up. Different types of antibiotics were tried (Bactrim, Macrobid), and I always ended up in crippling pain, which I had attributed to a reaction to the antibiotics, not to the urinary tract infection itself. (I can tolerate tetracyclines, as minocycline and doxycycline don't have this effect).

I understand what you are saying when you point out that even with this connection, RA can not likely be treated with antibiotics alone, and that the defect in the immune system must be treated and made stronger overall by healing the digestive system, keeping the body alkaline and well-nourished, and as chemical-free as possible. Rebuilding and maintaining a healthy immune system with autoimmune disease is definitely not easy and takes lifelong commitment, but it is such a relief to know that there are things we can do for ourselves to extend our life span and to radically improve our quality of life. Thank you for sharing all of this valuable information, Ray! Best Wishes for good health to you and your wife!"
