Greetings and Calling All RPMDA Band Instrument Players!
I'm excited that you'll be coming to my city for the RPMDA convention this year! Columbus is the home of the great Ohio State Buckeye football team and marcing band, and TBDBITL as many of you know. In fact, Eric and Julia are planning a tailgate party experience for you at Stanton's Music on Thursday night.
Now comes the real thrust of this epistle. RPMDA president Carol Wilbur would like a band to play at Saturday night's closing dinner and bring the flavor of college football days to the evening (wear your favorite school/team jersey to the dinner celebration Saturday night!) That's where I come in. Carol has asked me to form a band of print industry musicians to play college fight songs for our enjoyment and amazement.
We need marching band instruments - trumpets, French horns, trombones, baritones, tubas, clarinets, flutes, oboes, bassoons, saxophones and drums. Sorry, rockers, no marching guitars this time! I promise that the music will not push anyone beyond their abilities. One rehearsal whenever we can fit it into the convention schedule, and we'll be ready to go.
I know from traveling with my trombone that it will take extra commitment to bring your horn to the convention, but it will be worth your effort and much appreciated. For you tuba players and drummers (really hard to get a tuba into that overhead luggage space!) I will try to have larger instruments available for you when you get here. You might want to bring your own mouthpiece or drumsticks.
Because I need to know in advance how many players and what instrumentation we will have, please reply to this request ASAP by sending me your name, your company and what instrument you will be playing. Also, if you play a larger instrument and will need one provided for you, add that to your reply.
I promise you grins, giggles, kicks and a lot of fun! As always, let's emphasize the "M" in RPMDA and play and enjoy music together!
