Breakfast in Bethlehem - a moment for families

We are three weeks away from Breakfast in Bethlehem on Saturday, Dec. 6! This is our annual family Christmas event where we transform the church into the village of Bethlehem, share a festive meal and celebrate the Christmas story.

This is an event you will want to experience as a family! It is geared to preschool and elementary-age children and the adults that accompany them. Our congregation will also get to see the same program during the 9:30 and 11 a.m. services on Sunday,  Dec. 7.

This event has limited seating, and we expect to sell out, so don't delay in getting your tickets! Tickets ($5 per person or $20 per family) are available in the lobby following each service.

If you are interested in serving at this event, please contact Lauren Kirkland.See Stephanie at the table in the lobby on Sunday with questions.

Bring in your Operation Christmas Child shoe boxes by next Sunday, Nov. 23! Your shoe box gift will show a child God's love and give him or her the opportunity to hear the message of the Gospel, so start packing! Stop by the information table in the lobby on Sunday to learn more about OCC, or visit SamaritansPurse.org.

Plan to  join us for an Evening of Gratitude, a time to worship and give thanks as we enter the holiday season, at 6:30 p.m. on Sunday evening, Nov. 23. This will replace our Thanksgiving Eve service.

Let's show some love and encouragement to our former FUEL students who are in college or serving in the military. With finals week approaching and the holidays not far behind, this is a good opportunity to show the young people who have grown up at Sonrise that we still care about them! If you'd like to send a former FUEL student a note or a care package, just stop by the table in the lobby on Sunday to select a student and get more information.

Other Announcements

  • If you missed the Grief Share event "Surviving the Holidays," you can attend an identical event at 6:30 Monday night, Nov. 17, at our Sonrise Roanoke campus. Check sonrisechurch.info for details.
  • FUEL students, we're wrapping up our All In series with the challenge Be Something. Being a student can be brutal. You are constantly being judged by your peers, even when you try to be kind to an unpopular student. Jesus had something to say about this in his parable of the good Samaritan. Pastor Zac will be teaching Sunday night about what it means to go all in when you're faced with a risky social situation. This is good, relevant stuff - bring a friend!
  • FUEL students, remember to bring an OCC shoe box tonight if you are able! Also, we will be helping to fold and move cartons Sunday night for Operation Christmas Child! This is a blast and a great opportunity to serve and be ALL IN!
