Community Service
|
by Tee Combs, PTA VP Community Service
At our last event, we had a great time making these Thanksgiving Day place cards for Cedars-Sinai Hospital. The PTA Community Service Team provided all the materials and all students had to do was show up, sign in, and put together the parts! How creative they got was up to them, and when our time was up, we had made dozens of them, with some beautiful examples you can see in these pictures. Students there were having so much fun enjoying themselves, we had to tell many of them when we had run out of time for that session. We hope to see you all at the next Community Service early dismissal on December 1st.
HOLIDAY TOY DRIVE Toys are synonymous with children. We will be collecting toys to give to those who need a little extra holiday cheer. Place your new, unwrapped toy donations in the bins in the main hallway from November 30th through December 11th.
DISTRICT-WIDE EVENT - SANDWICHES FOR THE HOMELESS
On Thursday, December 24th at 10:00am Horace Mann will host the district's Feed the Homeless event. Students and families will make upwards of 1,000 sandwiches for the homeless. We will be packing these sandwiches into lunches with other snacks and holiday cards. Join us in spreading some joy this season; it feels good to do good.

8th Grade Corner

Thank you to everyone that attended the Rocco's Pizza fundraiser! Horace Mann raised $400 which will be used for the graduation party and other 8th Grade expenses. We enjoyed seeing so the families and students that came to Rocco's that night. Thank you again.
Using the names of all the families that have contributed the $300 donation for 8th Grade expenses, we conducted a drawing. More than half the class has made the donation and got to participate in the raffle. And the winner was Shannon Hunt (Jordan's mom). She will enjoy a gift card for HipCooks. If you didn't win, we will plan some additional opportunities to win HipCooks gift certificates in the future.
