A Letter from Our Principal
|
by Principal Steve Kessler
Believe it or not, in another four weeks the first half of the school year will be over. It is my wish that all of you have found Horace Mann School to be a nurturing environment for learning, both academically and socially.
There are a number of exciting PTA-sponsored events coming your way during the second half of the year. Please check the PTA calendar for scheduled events. There is something for everyone. Please take advantage of these wonderful programs and events.
We at Horace Mann want all our stakeholders to be part of the Husky Nation. The enthusiasm and pride we have for our school is readily seen and felt by all. I look forward to a successful second half of the year with great enthusiasm. If there are any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact me.

Giving and Getting - Everyone Wins
|
Horace Mann has teamed up for the upcoming holiday with the non-profit organization Global Goods Partners (GGP) to launch a socially-responsible and educational fundraising program.
Raise money for Horace Mann while improving the lives of women and their families in some of the most impoverished communities in Asia, Africa, and the Americas. Each time you make a purchase on the GGP website, Horace Mann earns 20% while the remaining proceeds are reinvested in the communities where GGP's hand-crafted products are made.

You Shop. Amazon Gives. Horace Mann Partners with AmazonSmile
|
With holiday shopping underway, visit Horace Mann PTA's AmazonSmile page to get everything you need. We are registered as a participating organization with AmazonSmile, which means that a portion of every purchase (0.5%) goes directly to benefit Horace Mann PTA.
Go to the AmazonSmile link (https://smile.amazon.com/ch/95-6205229) and be sure to share it with your friends, family and on social media. Every dollar raised through AmazonSmile directly benefits the Horace Mann PTA, which then benefits our kids.
Another way to find our account: go to amazon.com and look up PTA California Congress of Parents Teachers & Students Inc. (Horace Mann).

A Big Thanks!
|
A huge THANK YOU to all who donated books to "Thankful for Books." Horace Mann collected over 250 books for children in need. The books will be delivered to First 5 preschools and shelters in time for Thanksgiving. Thank you to Jill Egerman for leading this cause.
We appreciate all of the volunteers who helped to set up, run, and clean up this year's book fair. A big round of applause to Celina Serrano for spearheading the book fair and for all of her tireless efforts to make it a complete success.
To all of those that donated food to our Holiday Food Drive, the PTA and the beneficiaries of said food thank you most humbly.
