Summer Reading Program Kickoff!

Wednesday, June 10 | 12-2pm | Library Lawn

 


Join us for the Summer Reading/Summer Learning Kickoff on June 10 from 12-2pm! After registering for the Summer Reading Game, create your superhero identity and make a mask! Then, test your abilities on the Climbing Wall and Superhero Conditioning with Chelsea ATA Martial Arts. We'll have a bounce house, karaoke, crafts, games, snow cones, and more! 

Immediately after the Kickoff, come inside to the McKune Room for Lords of the Sky: Birds of Prey from 2-3pm! Presented by the Howell Nature Center, this live bird show features falcons, hawks, owls, and vultures. Learn about the individual characteristics of these birds and the important roles they play in nature!

Adult Summer Reading Game

Summer Reading isn't just for kids! Starting June 10th, you can register for our Adult Summer Reading Game. By reading and exploring Chelsea and the Library you will earn chances to win prizes like a gift certificate to The Common Grill and other popular local spots. Visit our webpage to find out more.

Parent and Child Yoga
Thursdays, June 11 & 18 | July 2
2-3pm | Ages 5-11 (with parent)
McKune Room | Registration Required*

Yoga is a wonderful way to connect with your child, both physically and emotionally, and it can help adults to rediscover our more playful natures. Using games, songs and stories, we'll explore a variety of yoga postures for flexibility, balance and focus. Sue Whitmarsh, a Chelsea resident and registered Yoga instructor, highly recommends Yoga as a way to connect with your child and yourself. Come play the yoga way!

Used Book Sale Donations

 

The Friends of Chelsea District Library would like to thank all those who have donated books, music and movies to their monthly book sales which benefit the library.

 

If you would like to make a donation, please remember to follow these guidelines:
  1. Only clean books, music and movies in GOOD condition will be accepted.
  2. We do not accept encyclopedias, textbooks or technical books older than five years or ANY Readers' Digest condensed books.
  3. Place your donations inside the marked bins under the staircase on the first floor.
The Friends of Chelsea District Library are a 501c3 organization and donation receipts are available at the Check-out Desk.

Thousands of beautiful books, CDs, DVDs, audio books and other items are available for purchase. Proceeds from the sales are used to support the Library. Stop by the Friendly Book Cart, always available in the lobby for a great selection of "like-new" books at bargain prices.

Can't quite figure out how to set up a Zinio account, download ebooks or find information in some of our databases?  We're here to help!  Sign up for a one-on-one session with one of our expert tech volunteers to get all the help you need. *Registration is very important so that our volunteers can be prepared to answer all your questions.

Hawks and owls and falcons, oh my! Learn about different types of birds of prey, their characteristics, and the roles they play in nature! Presented by the Howell Nature center, this program gives kids the chance to see live hawks, vultures, falcons, and owls in a safe environment.
