Chelsea District Library
Aims to Improve Broadband access for Chelsea Area Residents

In early 2014, the library and local townships helped the Washtenaw Broadband Initiative run a survey to determine the status of broadband in our communities. The survey showed that a number of our communities are disadvantaged when it comes to broadband access. As part of the library's mission to provide equal access to information, we are dedicated to improving our community's access to broadband. The Washtenaw Broadband Initiative and PureBroadband.org continue to work on resolving this issue in the long term. In the short-term, the library has partnered with Lyndon Township in a pilot program to provide internet access through a free public wifi hotspot housed at the Lyndon Township Hall. If successful, the library plans to deploy more hotspots in other local areas that are broadband disadvantaged.  For more information  click here.
