This two day program includes student workshops with the authors at select 
Chelsea Schools on March 25 & 26 
and 
an opportunity for the whole family to meet the authors and get their books signed at our evening event on March 25.

In the Classroom

Nancy ShawAnn Arbor author of picture books for ages 0-8, including Sheep in a Jeep, will be visiting students in North Creek Elementary.




Johnathan Rand: Michigan Chillers author of books for ages 7-12 will be visiting students in South Meadows Elementary.

Gary D. Schmidt: Two-time Newbery Honor author of books for ages 11 and up including The Wednesday Wars will be visiting students at Beach Middle School.

Meet and greet the authors at this special event. Hear a brief presentation from each author, ask questions, and then get your book signed.  Books by each author will be available for purchase, courtesy of Chelsea's Just Imagine bookstore.*Please note this year's new location.

Self-check is Back!

Not only is our self-checkout service back - it's improved and now available on both the first and second floors. In addition to books, patrons can now check-out CD's and DVD's, along with reviewing their account or renewing an item. 

 

The self-check stations are located to the left of the Check-out desk on the first floor and at the reference desk on the second floor.

 

Need help getting started? Just ask a librarian or the Circulation staff - they're always happy to help!

Allocating your 401K for Retirement

In this informative class retirees and soon-to-be retirees will learn how to make the most of their 401K's in retirement. You will learn the advantages and disadvantages of different types of retirement plans. Find out how to smartly and efficiently distribute income from your retirement plan. What to watch out for when Required Minimum Distributions are approaching. The impact of inheriting a 401K versus an IRA has on beneficiaries. How about some lively Bluegrass and Celtic tunes to "fiddle" away those winter blahs? Come and give a listen to the Beach Middle School Fiddle Club. The Fiddle Club has been part of Beach Middle School for 15 years and consists of Chelsea School District 5th-8th grade string students, under the direction of coach Nathan Peters, and high school cadet teacher, Aidan Carry. Made possible by the Friends of Chelsea District Library

 

Ancestry Aficionados

We welcome family history researchers to spend some time digging into the library's online genealogy resources, such as Ancestry Library Edition, HeritageQuest, SeekingMichigan.org, and our own StoriesofChelsea.org. Expert volunteers will be on hand to offer advice and guidance for next steps in your family tree exploration.
 *Registration is very important so that our volunteers can prepare for your questions.

Did you know that the library offers adaptive technology equipment including a variety of magnifiers ranging in power to help those with vision impairments?  

Located on our second floor, items from this collection may be borrowed for up to three weeks using your Chelsea District Library card. It's a great way to try a vision aid before purchasing or for use on a special project.
