134 years of Chelsea newspapers are now available online through 
Chelsea District Library!

For the first time, years 1873 through 2012 of Chelsea newspapers are now available online and fully text searchable through the library. Exploring Chelsea's history or researching a family member is now fast and easy and can be accessed from the comfort of your own home!  

Emily Meloche, Adult Services Librarian has been involved in the project since its beginning. Read what she has to say about this incredible new database in our Chelsea Standard weekly column and be sure to join us on for our open house to celebrate its launch and recognize our community sponsors who so generously helped make this project a reality!

Friends Fill a Bag For $5 Book Sale

Saturday, Nov. 8 | 10am-2pm

Library Basement

Thousands of beautiful books, CDs, DVDs, audio books and other items are available for purchase. Proceeds from the sales are used to support the Library. Stop by the Friendly Book Cart, always available in the lobby for a great selection of "like-new" books at bargain prices. 


 


 

ACT Practice Test 

with Kaplan Test Prep

Sunday, Nov. 9 | 1-5pm

McKune Room

Registration Required

This 3.5-hour ACT Practice Test helps students decide which test is right for them. It is a perfect opportunity to experience the ACT and prepare for testing in March. Please bring a simple calculator and a snack to eat/drink during the short breaks in testing. Review session will be November 2nd.


 

Thousand Letters

A Thousand Letters Home: A WWII Journey Through Letters

Join as we gather to honor Veteran's Day and remember those who served. Author Teresa K. Irish takes us back in time via the nearly 1,000 letters sent home during her father's WWII service, during which we was awarded a Silver Star, Purple Heart, and two Bronze Battle Stars. A moving and historic story of life and loss, hope and perseverance, unwavering faith and true love, his experience, documented through letters and photographs, will resonate with all.

Meet a real live turkey at 6:15pm in KidSpot, and then move to McKune for a special Thanksgiving storytime at 6:30pm with Miss Karen and Miss Jessica, complete with stories, songs and Thanksgiving crafts.

TumbleBooks is an online collection filled with animated, talking picture books which teach kids the joy of reading in a format they'll love. TumbleBooks are created by adding animation, sound, music and narration to existing picture books in order to produce an electronic picture book which you can read, or have read to you. Click here to start having fun today!
