Highlights
 

Keegan comes to Chelsea District Library after spending many years at the Clarkston Independence District Library, where she was Head of Teen Services and most recently Head of Technical Services.  Keegan holds a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from the University of Michigan and a Masters in Library and Information Science from Wayne State University.

 

Some of her favorite books include the Odd Thomas series by Dean Koontz, The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series by Douglas Adams, and the Monstrumologist series by Rick Yancey. 

 

"I am honored to be working at the Chelsea District Library," Keegan said on her first day of work, "and I welcome you all to come in and meet me and let me know what the library means to you."

Dr. Victor Strecher, author of On Purpose: lessons in life and health from the frog, the dung beetle, and Julia, will present his take on health, motivation and change. Through a multimedia journey involving ancient and modern philosophy, literature, psychology, genetics, neuroscience, and Egyptology, Dr. Strecher will demonstrate strategies to help people make meaningful changes toward living an engaged life with real purpose. Have a Tablet, NOW WHAT?

Come see and share ideas, tips and tricks on how to use your iPad, or Android tablet effectively. Participants will learn through demonstrations and will be encouraged to share information they have learned. Some of the topics we will discuss are; gestures, apps, settings, syncing, connectivity and how to use the Download Destination service from the library for ebooks and audiobooks.

ACT Practice Test with Kaplan Test Prep

The 3.5-hour ACT Practice Test helps students decide which test is right for them. This is a perfect opportunity to experience the ACT and prepare for testing in March. Please bring a simple calculator and a snack to eat/drink during the short breaks in testing. Review session will be November 2.

 

Computer Training 1:1

Are you a tech newbie, can't figure out your new smartphone, or just want to ask your computer question to a real person? Let our computer volunteers provide you with the necessary skills and knowledge to use your computer and digital devices effectively. This program is aimed at educating users rather than computer repair. Please register in advance through our online event calendar, calling or by visiting the library. Registration is very important so that our volunteers can prepare for your questions.

 

Chills in Chelsea 

Halloween Party

Our annual Chills in Chelsea Halloween Party is the best way to celebrate all things spooky and terrifying! Join us at our Halloween Party and listen to scary stories, do creepy crafts, play gory games, and walk through Haunted KidSpot! Come in costume and we'll hunt for treats throughout the library.

This resource offers access to censuses, vital records, immigration records, family histories, photos, maps, and more. Research like a pro with available research guides and get connected using the message boards. While this resource is only for use in the library, it is a great opportunity to ask one of our librarians to walk you through the many other local history resources unique to our community.
