Mr. B's Joybox Express Quartet

Katie's Korner | All Ages

 

Join us for a concert at Katie's Korner on the library lawn with legendary blues and boogie-woogie pianist Mark Lincoln Braun (aka Mr. B)! He'll be riding in on his Joybox Express, a custom-designed bike with a 350-pound upright piano onboard, powered by a trio of musicians and cyclists.

 

Bring your bike and help escort Mr. B out of town (approximately 2 miles) - or pedal alongside the Joybox Express piano bike all the way to Ann Arbor (approximately 15 miles) where the ride will culminate at 5:30 p.m. with another concert by Mr. B at the Wolverine State Brewing Company.

Registration Required 

Have fun with your friends as you hone your skills at spontaneous comedy in this improvisational comedy weekend workshop. Instructor Shelly Smith will teach you how to live in the moment, interact with others, accept new information and utilize it, all without scripts! On the final day, entertain a live audience of friends and family! Who knows, you could be the next Star of Saturday Night Live!


Summer Reading Improv Show

Come enjoy this interactive performance by local Chelsea Teens who have been training at the Youth Improv Comedy Bootcamp! They will make you laugh as they create skits on the spot using suggestions from the audience or from their own personal source of inspiration.

Connect with your self, your breath, and nature - all in one! Yoga instructor Sue Whitmarsh will lead the group in a yoga practice on the Library Lawn that will work your muscles and your mind. Please wear comfortable clothes and bring a mat if you have one.

In this active musical story time, children will experience many concepts of music through singing, chanting, moving and playing instruments. Parents and siblings are welcome to join in the fun! Local resident, Tara Vesprini is the teacher of the Music Together™ program at the Chelsea Center for the Arts, a cellist and a homeschooling mom of four. Formerly an orchestra teacher, she is now committed to helping families discover the joy and value of a rich, musical home environment.
