The world can be a brutal place- eat or be eaten. In order to deal with this constant dilemma hunters and the hunted have evolved different strategies to give themselves a fighting chance. Join us on a 3 workshop journey through time as we explore the strategies that predators and prey have used to try to keep a leg up on the competition.

January 11: Dining on Dinos: Long necks, sharp teeth, club tails, killer claws
The world in the time of the dinosaurs was a brutal place. We will explore what fossils can tell us about the lives and coping strategies of predators and prey animals.

Chelsea Percussion Ensembles 

Saturday, Jan .11 | 1-2pm | McKune Room

(Note: this performance is on SATURDAY)

 

Percussion is more than just drums! Drop in to McKune to hear the Chelsea High School Percussion Ensembles fill the room with the sounds of bells, xylophone, timpani, marimba and more! Students will perform the same classical ensemble pieces that they will compete with in the MSBOA Solo & Ensemble Festival. All ages welcome.  

 

RJ Spangler Trio with Larry Smith

Sunday, Jan 12 | 2-3pm | McKune Room

 

RJ Spangler and his trio will perform with Detroit alto saxophone master, Larry Smith. RJ will lead a musical tour through Detroit's jazz & blues roots, demonstrating examples with his all-star band. Larry Smith has a reputation as an old-school keeper of the bebop flame and a true talent for jazz ballads.

Playing with Legos promotes basic skills such as spatial awareness, fine motor skills, creativity, and storytelling. The Lego Club gives children ages 5-12 an opportunity to create structures and stories by giving them one full hour of free play with our extensive Lego collection. At the end of the program, children will have the opportunity to name their creations and put them on exhibit in the display case near the library entrance.

When local photographer Ralph Guenther retired, he donated all of his photo negatives to the Chelsea District Library. On the second Wednesday of each month, join librarian Emily at the Chelsea Senior Center to identify the subjects of Ralph Guenther's photographs.

Excel 2010 Basics Excel

Participants will explore Excel 2010 with a very basic introduction to this popular spreadsheet program. Through demonstration and hands-on, participants will be; introduced to the "Ribbon" and its functions, entering numerical and alphanumeric data, formatting and basic formula creation.
