From Pages to Art | Recycled Book Craft
Turn the written word into visual art. Learn to make handmade flowers and other paper crafts using the pages of recycled books. These lovely crafts are simple to make and can be used as many forms of decorations, including centerpieces and gift bows. Please bring scissors.

Fill a Bag with Books for $5
The Friends of Chelsea District Library have added a second July book sale. Fill a bag with books* for $5! Thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, and other items are available for purchase. Proceeds from the sales are used to support the Library.
*Excludes Primo Books displayed on Friends Book Shelves in Library lobby.

Ancestry Aficionados | Join fellow family history gatherers for open research. Expert volunteers will be on hand to answer genealogy and computer questions.
Babytime | Introduce your baby or toddler to the wonderful world of books. We'll be singing songs, doing bouncy rhymes, learning some "baby signing", and reading along to fun board books.

Summer Reading Finale | Our Pirate-themed finale will have you digging for treasure all around the Library. First, grab a Treasure Map, follow the clues, and complete a variety of activities to get a tasty snow cone AND dig for treasure in our sand pit!
Summer Reading Finale Show: Animal Magic | Mark Rosenthal, wildlife conservationist and educator, will bring Tank, the very rare giant hairy armadillo, Shelly, a rare legless lizard, and Osti, the largest Mexican beaded lizard. Learn all about these mysterious and majestic animals at this program.
Reading Glasses: A Book Club | Read Good Books. Drink Good Beer. Join Chelsea District Library staff at the Chelsea Alehouse to discuss The Particular Sadness of Lemon Cake by Aimee Bender. Reserved copies of the book are available at the Chelsea District Library Check Out Desk.

Public Hearing Notice for 2014
Chelsea District Library Budget
A public hearing will be held on Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at 6:45pm in the McKune Room at the Library on the proposed 2014 budget.
The property tax millage rate proposed to be levied to support the proposed budget is the subject of this hearing.
The proposed 2014 budget documents are available at the Chelsea District Library for public examination.
