Since moving into our new facility and reconnecting with our downtown roots, the Chelsea District Library has achieved a remarkable record as a respected, visionary, resourceful, and model public library. Here are just a few of the highlights from last year.

Did you forget something?  
Wondering where you left your USB drive? How about your laptop power cord? Gift card? We have many unclaimed items in our lost and found! Patrons have left behind wallets, house keys, voice recorders, cell phones, and more. If you are missing something that you think might have been left behind at the Library, give us a call with the description of your lost item and we'll see if it's here. Friends of Chelsea District Library Used Book Sale 

Thousands of books, CDs, DVDs, audio books, and more are available for purchase. Proceeds are used to support the Library.

Mr. B's Joybox Express QuartetChelsea is the only stop this year by Ann Arbor piano legend, Mr. B and his fabled piano-bike. He will be performing a concert here at the Library and then he and his fellow musicians will pack up their instruments and bike ride to Ann Arbor. Everyone is invited to join the ride, so bring your bike.

Summer Kids Play ChessChess promotes sportsmanship, problem solving, creative thinking, and pattern recognition. For kids ages 5-12, whether you want to learn to play, help others learn to play, improve your chess skills, or meet new friends to play with, join our chess club volunteer, Cindy Blum for Kid's Play Chess!

One-on-One Computer Help | Volunteers will be on hand to educate, inform, and answer questions about computers, the Internet, Microsoft applications and other technology issues. Registration is important so that we can prepare for your questions with enough volunteers. 

  

BabytimeIntroduce your baby or toddler to the wonderful world of books. We'll be singing songs, doing bouncy rhymes, learning some "baby signing", and reading along to fun board books.

Wild Wednesdays: Mario Kart Tournament Everyone wins at this Mario Kart tournament. Open play for the first half hour, then registered players will compete for prizes. Snacks will be provided. 
 
Grow Your Business: One-on-One CounselingRegister for a free, one-hour counseling session with an experienced consultant who will provide confidential, personalized analysis. For current business owners and those looking to start a business.

Superhero Storytime | Our youth librarians will introduce your child to the wonderful world of books by reading great stories, singing funny songs, and making each story come alive through puppets, fingerplays and movement. Come dressed as your favorite superhero.

Michigan Secretary of State Partners with Libraries Across Michigan
ExpressSOS.com

 

There is a new partnership between the Michigan Secretary of State and libraries across Michigan called ExpressSOS CONNECT - Libraries. The state will be highlighting libraries as convenient access points for the Secretary of State online services at ExpressSOS.com.

 

ExpressSOS.com allows you to save time by conducting your Secretary of State business online. Services include the ability to renew your vehicle tabs, driver's license or ID card, obtain a replacement vehicle title, submit a change of address, and more, without having to go to a Secretary of State location. 

 

If you have a friend or neighbor without Internet access, let them know they can access this service from Library computers.

Check Out a Museum Pass
 
Michigan Activity Pass

Did you know you can check out a museum pass with your Chelsea District Library card? Michigan Activity Pass (MAP) allows patrons to print a pass, either from home or at the Library, for admission to one of the nearly 60 participating institutions at the MAP website. Passes are valid for seven days after check out. Get started!

 

Michigan Activity Pass is a partnership of The Library Network, the Institute of Museum and Library Services, the Library of Michigan, and CultureSource.

Until further notice, we are not accepting any new book donations.
 
We've received so many donations over the past few weeks that we've run out of room (and Friends) to process them! Thanks for your understanding.

 

The Friends of Chelsea District Library Used Book Sale is this Saturday, July 13 from 10am-2pm in the Library basement. Come and buy books to make room for new donations!

The Chelsea District Library is nonprofit organization whose mission is to provide equal access to quality resources that serve the lifelong cultural, educational, and informational needs and interests of all people.The library currently serves 14,000 residents in the Chelsea district - City of Chelsea plus Dexter, Lima, Lyndon and Sylvan townships and more than 20,000 individuals visit the library each month.  The library's state-of-the-art facility is an access point for information.
