Comedy Showcase Kicks Off June 6 
 
5th Annual Comedy Showcase
As part of Sounds & Sights, the Library will feature live stand-up comedy in Katie's Korner on the Library Lawn.
 
On June 6, we'll feature Norm Stulz. Norm Stulz started his professional comedy life back in 1981 and has gone on to become the industry's premier comic storyteller. Truth is always funnier than fiction and no one can tell the truth more humorously than Norm Stulz.

Smarty Pants Trivia Smack Down

How does your knowledge of random trivia compare to your friends' and neighbors'? Round up a team of up to six people and join the Chelsea Library at the Chelsea Alehouse to test your trivia chops. After five rounds of trivia, the top two teams win prizes (and bragging rights). Free to participate-bring your library card to get bonus points!

ToddlertimeThis storytime emphasizes early literacy skills for your child. We will lay the foundation for reading through letter knowledge and vocabulary building. Activities such as group songs, interactive felt board stories, and our "group troop" action rhymes, will entertain and educate.

Summer Reading Kickoff Sign up for Summer Reading, then complete a variety of activities to get a tasty snow cone. Play Giant Volleyball, run our Obstacle Course, decorate a visor, and dig and build to your heart's content at our Construction/Destruction Zone!

 
Mat Emerick, the Story JugglerMat Emerick puts his clown skills to work, bringing you the story of "The Miner Forty-Niner Digs...and Dances a Gold Rush Jig!" This fun & exciting show includes jokes, stories, mime and amazing juggling!

People judge books by their covers all of the time, and book marketers are aware of this trend and design covers accordingly.  Earlier this month, Young Adult author Maureen Johnson wrote an insightful article on the difference in the public's perception of male and female authors- ending by highlighting book marketer's tendency to design covers that convey a fluffier read for books written by women, even when the books have depth and substance.

Well Struck, Sir: Historic Base Ball in Chelsea Program Rescheduled

Due to last week's power outage, this program has been rescheduled for Tuesday, July 9 at 6:30pm. Join Captain "Honest Jon" Van Hoek and other members of the Monitor Base Ball Club of Chelsea for a fun look at old-time base ball. Part of the Chelsea Area Historical Society, the Monitors are an amateur community club playing base ball by the rules of 1860. View the Monitor's 2013 schedule.
