Go on a Blind Date with a Book:
Let Us Set You Up with a
 Visit our Blind Date with a Book display located on the 2nd level anytime between Monday, April 8 and Sunday, April 21. Choose a wrapped book based on the descriptions written on the cover, check it out, and don't open until you get home.
Inside, you'll find a "rate-it card." After you've read the book, share your thoughts and return the card to any Information Desk by Sunday, April 30 to be entered into a drawing for read-themed prizes.

National Library Week National Library Week is April 14-20. We have two ways for you to celebrate and be entered to win read-themed prizes!
1. Monday, April 8-21 | Check out a book from our Blind Date with a Book display, read it, rate-it, and return the card by Sunday, April 30 to be entered into the drawing.
2. Monday, April 14-20 | Tell us why you love the library! Pick up a "I Love My Library Because..." card at any Information Desk during National Library Week, and fill it out for us to display to be entered into the drawing.

Events this Week
Tuesday, April 9
Babytime | Introduce your baby or toddler to the wonderful world of books. We'll be singing songs, doing bouncy rhymes, learning some "baby signing" and reading along to fun board books.
Intro to Skype | Skype is a popular video-conferencing program that allows users to make free video calls over the Internet. Learn to set up your own free personal account using an email address, locating contacts and making a basic video call. Topics will include software installation, configuration options and amin screen controls.
Wednesday, April 10
Spring Storytime | Our youth librarians will introduce your child to the wonderful world of books by reading great stories, singing funny songs, and making each story come alive through puppets, fingerplays and movement.
Thursday, April 11
One Direction Party | Calling all fans and super-fans, this One Direction party will light up your world! Sing-along to One Direction songs, snack on the band's favorite foods (tacos and chocolate!), test your knowledge of band members, music and more!
Saturday, April 13
Dr. William Kinderman, a professor of musicology and pianist from the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana is one of the world's foremost authorities on Beethoven and his Diabelli Variations. Dr. Kinderman will present a lecture, supplemented with demonstration on the piano, of the music that is central to the play "33 Variations."

We are pleased to annouce that our Director, Bill Harmer has been selected to attend the 2013 Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation (BMGF) Global Libraries Peer Learning Meeting in Cape Town, South Africa. The Global Libraries Peer Learning Meeting brings together librarians from around the world to learn from each other on the topics of exploring community engagement, building strong partnerships, assessing community needs, innovating in a local context, and strengthening the base of support from which libraries are funded. Place That Face

When local photograph Ralph Guenther retired, he donated all of his photo negatives to the Chelsea District Library. On the second Wednesdays in April and May, join librarian Emily Meloche at the Chelsea Senior Center to identify the subjects of Ralph Guenther's photographs. Place That Face will go on hiatus for the summer and will pick up again in September. Wednesdays, April 10, May 8 12:30-2pm Chelsea Senior Center 512 Washington Street |
