1950s Detroit: A Memoir Reading
by Mary Minock

Mary Minock
Mary Minock will be reading from her new memoir, The Way-Back Room: A Memoir of a Detroit Childhood. She also will be sharing her strategies for writing memoir.

Mary grew up in the 1950s and 1960s in the dense Southwest Detroit parish of Holy Redeemer during a time of remarkable changes. Eventually she left Detroit and returned in 1996, fixed up her childhood home, lived there for a decade, and then moved three blocks away to help restore another stately home. She is an avid Detroit booster. Presented in partnership with the Adult Learners Institute.
