Award-Winning Authors to Visit Chelsea Schools
Our 4th annual Authors in Chelsea event takes place Wednesday, March 20. This daylong event brings three nationally known authors to Chelsea schools to present workshops, free of charge. Children and their families are also invited to the library in the evening to meet the authors and get books signed from 6:30-8pm. This year's line-up includes Dori Hillestad Butler, author of the chapter book series, The Buddy Files and 2011's Edgar Award winner for Best Juvenile Mystery, Tim Smith, Michigan author of the Buck Wilder series, and Kenneth Oppel, author of many adventure/fantasy books for middle grade readers, including the popular trilogy Silverwing, Sunwing and Firewing, and the novel Airborn, and its sequels, Skybreaker and Stairclimber. Babytime | Introduce your baby or toddler to the wonderful world of books. Singing songs, do bouncy rhymes, learn some "baby signing" and reading along to fun board books.
Celebrating Chelsea: A Look Back at Chelsea's 125th Anniversary Celebration | Librarian Emily Meloche will take us back to 1959, when the whole town embraced Chelsea's 125th anniversary celebration by growing beards, wearing 19th century fashions and building log cabins. She'll showcase photographs, artifacts, and a recently-converted film of the incredible community event.

Dance Along, Sing Along | Dance along and sing along with Mrs. Beth! Move to the music! Join us for songs, dances, and musical games for children and parents to do together. For ages 2 and up, siblings welcome.
Thursday, February 28
I'm an Early Reader: Early Reader Book Club | Book clubs encourage beginning readers to learn communication, reading, and critical thinking skills all while talking with friends, playing games, and making crafts. Parents and children, read the picture book When Charlie McButton Lost Power by Suzanne Collins, then join us to talk about the book and do fun themed activities. Copies of the book are available at the library.

Dr. Seuss' Birthday Party | Celebrate this legendary author's 109th birthday with games, crafts, Dr. Seuss stories, and delicious birthday cake! A few lucky Seuss fans will even win a Dr. Seuss book to take home.
