Library Welcomes Robin Wagner as Newest Board Member
A Chelsea resident for 9+ years, I am honored to be a new Library Board Trustee of the Chelsea District Library, a library replete with wonderfully passionate, creative, book-loving, and
customer-centric staff members. The one reassuring constant throughout my life has been books: book fair devotee throughout elementary school, son of a middle school English teacher (and, wonderfully, my 7th grade English teacher), double major in English and Journalism at The University of Michigan, 32+ year career (1976 - 2009) with the once-proud and once world-class Borders Book Shops, surrounded by full bookcases no matter where I've lived.
How will libraries most effectively evolve as e-books become ever-more prevalent, bound books become less and less available, and brick and mortar bookstores move deeper and deeper into extremely endangered status? How can libraries, in the face of such revolutionary format and model changes, adjust to offer more and more resources, services, and entertainment to more and more people? These are urgent questions that I hope to be helpful in answering in my role as Library Board Trustee.
-Robin Wagner
