Grounded in Philly Web App
The Law Center's Garden Justice Legal Initiative recently launched a powerful new mapping tool to help community members easily access data on the city's 40,000 vacant lots. This new website, Grounded in Philly, also helps neighbors connect with one another to organize around vacant land, and use community-driven action to respond to neighborhood blight. The Law Center continues to move forward against Pennsylvania's infamous voter identification law, which threatens to disenfranchise thousands of elderly, low-income, and rural voters. The trial to secure a permanent injunction of the law begins on July 15 with a new trial judge taking over the reins: Bernard L. McGinley. Be sure to follow us on social media and our website for daily updates from the trial, and read more about this case here.

Education News: Oral Arguments Presented in LMSD Cases
In May and June, Law Center attorneys Sonja Kerr and Jennifer Clarke gave oral arguments before the Third Circuit in S.H. v. LMSD and Blunt v. LMSD. These are two of three cases the Law Center is currently appealing on behalf of African American students who were inappropriately labeled and segregated into special education classes by the Lower Merion School District (LMSD). Listen to recordings of the oral arguments and read more about these discrimination cases here.
