Jacqueline Cochran Air Show
 

On Saturday, October 25th, Riverside County EDA Aviation, with major support from EDA Marketing, produced the 10th Annual Jacqueline Cochran Air Show. 

 

In spite of the unseasonably warm weather, tens of thousands of spectators were thrilled by spine-tingling, gut-wrenching, high-altitude aerial acrobatics from some of the top air show performers in America.  A video of the event can be found here.

Cal Premium Treats
Ribbon Cutting
 
On October 9th, Cal Premium Treats celebrated the ribbon cutting of their new manufacturing facility located in Mead Valley.  The company will produce animal treats in their 47,000 s.f., state-of-the-art facility and plans to hire 75 - 100 new employees.
 
Cal Premium Treats found their location via Riverside County EDA's "RivCoProspector" website, received concierge level service through the permitting process via Riverside County's Fast Track Permitting process, and is working with Riverside County EDA's Business Solutions Team to hire qualified employees.
 
Valor Stand Down Event
  
On October 17th, Riverside County participated in the Valor Stand Down event held at the Perris Fairgrounds.  Three hundred and seventy-five veterans attended and received services ranging anywhere from housing assistance to medical and dental services.  More information on the full range of services provided is available here.
America's Tire Company
Ribbon Cutting
 
Another company to be successfully Fast Tracked through the permitting process by Riverside County EDA is America's Tire Company, also known as Discount Tire, who recently celebrated the grand opening of their new 400,000 s.f. distribution center in Mead Valley. 
  
This center is one of five nationwide for America's Tire Company and will service retail stores in the western United States.  America's Tire Company is the largest tire and wheel retailer in the world. The company expects to hire up to 200 workers for this facility.
Beacon Economics Forecast
 
The Beacon Economics 2014 Riverside/San Bernardino  Economic Forecast Conference was held on October 23rd at the Riverside Convention Center.  According to Beacon Economics, job growth in the region was strong in 2013 and 2014 looks to be a good year also.  Tourism was also touted as a strong contributor to the regional economy.  Look for an increased tourism presence by Riverside County in 2015.

Riverside TEDx
 
On October 16th the Riverside TEDx event was held at the Fox Performing Arts Center in downtown Riverside.  The event, hosted  by UC Riverside Office of Research and Economic Development, was a hit.  The series of speakers was informative, thought provoking, and entertaining to the delight of all who attended.

Business Solutions September Report
  
The Business Solutions Team of the Riverside County EDA had a successful month in September.  The Team placed 198 employees with 35 businesses at an average hourly wage of $14.72. Placements for the month included 22 On-the-Job Training contracts.
