Food Industry Seminar
 
Riverside County EDA, along with the City of Corona, Riverside County Environmental Health, ShareKitchen, the CDC Small Business Finance Corporation, and the CA Board of Equalization, wants to share the "Recipe for Success in the Food Industry."  Featured topics include: How to start and operate a food business; How to understand and properly charge sales tax; Health permits and passing inspections; and Financing food service business start-up and expansion.
  
This free seminar will held on Thursday, September 4th from 8:30am to noon at the City of Corona, City Hall, 400 S. Vicentia Avenue, Corona.  Full details are available here and you can register directly here.
  
This event is the second in a series of events put on by Team Riverside County targeting small business.  A similar seminar will be held in the Coachella Valley in the fall.
California Innovation Hub MOU Signed with GO-Biz
 
Riverside County EDA completed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the Governor's Office of Economic Development (GO-Biz) regarding the Inland SoCal Link iHub. This MOU sets forth the terms and responsibilities for implementing the iHub program.

Riverside ExCITE Operating Agreement Completed
 
Riverside County EDA executed an agreement with Riverside ExCITE to operate an accelerator program in Downtown Riverside. 
 
The Accelerator will provide start-up and early stage companies with low-cost, high-quality office space, access to shared equipment and support services, access to experts in various business fields, and financial resources.  The Accelerator will be located at 3499 10th Street, Riverside.

Immigration Workshop Held in Indio 
 

The Indio Workforce Development Center, along with the CA EDD,  hosted the Desert Communities Employer Advisory Council seminar on August 13,  2014. 

 

The topic of the seminar was the new Form I-9 and Immigration/Image/E-Verify 2014.   The presenter was Victor Dominguez, ICE Special Agent, from US Department of Homeland Security, San Bernardino office. 

 

The seminar attracted 46 businesses and 69 human re-source professionals were in attendance.  This seminar was free to attend and feedback was extremely positive.

 

Multi-Cultural Biz Fest Held
 
Riverside County EDA sponsored the 4th Annual Multi-Cultural Biz Fest & Mixer at the County Administrative Center on August 14th.  This event brought together Riverside County's diverse community of business owners for an evening of resources, seminars, and networking. 
 
Keynote speakers included Supervisor Marion Ashley and former NBA star, Keith Erickson.
 
Workforce Development Week Open House
 
The Riverside County Workforce Develop-ment Center will be celebrating Workforce Development Week with an open house at their Riverside location at 1325 Spruce St., Riverside on September 22nd from 3pm to 5pm.  Come mingle with VIPs and Workforce staff and enjoy refreshments and a tour of the facilities.
