Summer Reading Challenge 2015 - Record Breakers!

Over 3000 children have signed up to take part in Slough - we are breaking records but you can still join in - children can join Record Breakers during early September, and you need to read 6 books by the middle of the month to complete the challenge. If you are nearly there, keep going - and if you've completed, see you at the medal ceremony!

New loyalty scheme for preschool children
From 7 September, we have a new loyalty scheme in operation - preschool children coming to music or storytimes will get a bookmark once signed up - we will then give a sticker for every time they come along to a session and borrow 6 books - and a certificate for every5 stickers - all inspired by the Cat in the Hat and Dr Seuss - why not come and join in?

Back to school or college? Homework help is here
We provide thousands of non-fiction books to help with assignments, available in all our libraries, and if you get stuck we have staff on hand to help. We also subscribe to Britannica online so you can look up resources at a junior, student or adult level - bringing a huge resource into your home for free  -have a look at all our other online resources too.
Man Booker Prize is coming!
If it's the autumn it must be time for the Booker Prize - the longlist is out now and the shortlist is unveiled on 15 September. Copies of all titles are available through Slough libraries - check the catalogue - and the winner is announced 13 October.

There are hundreds of courses for adults running in Slough between now and December from Slough's Community Learning and Skills Service including IT, English and Yoga - you can see all of them here and several happen in our libraries. Why not sign up, and borrow books from the library to help you?
