Miami Urban Drive-In Movie Season Starts

Dates:  Wednesday, June 3 and Thursday, June 4
Times: 7:30 p.m.
Location: Parking lot behind the Playhouse|3500 Main Highway

Movies under the stars are an American tradition that Blue Starlite Miami Urban Drive-In continues. Drive in, bike in or walk and set up a lawn chair at the Coconut Grove Playhouse parking lot.

Join the Gallery Opening and Reception at Coconut Grove Art Festival this Saturday for an exhibition of award-winning underwater photographs by Jose Regalado.

 

Passionate about the environment and seduced by its natural beauty, photographer Jose Regalado finds muses in the colors, shapes and uniqueness of underwater ecosystems. 

 

A consummate world traveler, visiting over fifty counties, Regalado has been able to capture exotic and incredibly rare underwater photos which he prints on stainless steel. This printing method offers an extra reflective, ephemeral quality, unique to his work and vision.

Kampong Offerings Celebrate 100th Anniversary of Tamiami Trail with a 'Tamiami Trail: In the Beginning' Exhibition

Dates: May 4 thru June 13, 2015

From May 4 through June 13, 2015, The Kampong of the National Tropical Botanical Garden will offer a new art exhibition titled 'Tamiami Trail: In the Beginning', featuring portraits of plants found along the historic Tamiami Trail. This roadway, which was started in 1915, now stretches across the Everglades. This artwork displayed will be original works by members of the Miami-based Tropical Botanic Artists collective.


This exhibition and other events at The Kampong are among a series of celebrations by Florida International University in recognition of the trail's anniversary.

FREE Historical Bicycle Tour: Marvelous Tropical Flowering Trees of Coconut Grove

Now that summer has arrived, trees in The Grove are dressing in their tropical finery. As we cruise along, hear the often convoluted tales of local plant explorers as they combed the world in search of brilliant botanical bounties that today adorn the region. Besides the famously outrageous royal poinciana and shower-of-gold trees, observe rare and unusual species, both native and exotic, that help complete this colorful palette. The brilliant sunshine, luminous clouds, and dramatic thunderstorms of June are the perfect backdrop for a memorable ride admiring the community's floral delights.

 

Be sure to bring sunblock, water and a bike!

Miami Conservatory of Music Summer Music Camps

Summer Music Discovery Camp:

For beginning musicians 5-12 years old with no experience. Campers will be exposed to keyboard, guitar, strings, singing, percussion instruments and the basics of reading and writing music with the guidance of professional musicians.


 

Training Summer Camp Now Enrolling!

This week long camp is designed for students 8 - 12 years old with at least two years of instruction in their instruments. It is open to all instruments and voice.
