In the U.S. we take some pride in our record of resettling more refugees in our borders (about 70,000 annually) than all other countries combined. And President Obama has proposed accepting additional Syrian refugees as civilians continue trying to escape the fighting there.
About 30 of every 1,000 refugees that the U.N. resettles anywhere in the world comes to Houston - more than any other American city and more than most nations - as a recent article in the Houston Chronicle describes.
