High school PAIR student volunteers in summer program.

Samuel runs the 3200 and 1600 in track at Lee High School, but he prefers being on the cross country team. As he enters his senior year, he has a lot more on his plate than just his athletics. He will be keeping up with his academics, planning for life after his graduation, and thinking about ways to help his community.

When he arrived in the United States from Ethiopia in 2010, Samuel quickly got involved with PAIR's Global Explorers program for newcomer students and has been a part of our programs ever since. PAIR mentors helped him with his homework and talked to him about college, but most importantly they believed in him.

This summer, Samuel will be giving back to the PAIR community by volunteering in our middle school summer program. He wants to serve the community that gave him the support and assistance he needed when he was adjusting to life in Houston. He hopes to help younger PAIR students move forward as his mentors helped him.
