Coveys of quail are ubiquitous in the sage flats of the high desert around my home. Their busy ramblings, occasional bursts of flight, and constant three note song are pleasant accompaniments to the day. They're fine neighbors!

Greetings!
Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow! A storm is rolling in with a promise of more than two feet of snow over the Sierra passes.
2014 is close to becoming "yesterday's box score" and I am looking forward to new experiences and new paintings in 2015. There is so much to see and explore in this expanse of land bordering the eastern Sierra. In time, I need to get back to Spain and paint the small town fiestas. I need to rent a flat near Frenchman Street in New Orleans and sketch the blues clubs. But there is so much right here that is calling me. I am currently working on three paintings from my summer and fall travels in the Sierra and have more ideas waiting in the wings. In the coming years, I will get back to my traveling ways. For now, I think I'll just keep listening to the land that surrounds me, making paintings from these whispers.
