Should Lifetime ISAs Be Used As Pensions?



Baroness Altmann, the pensions minister, says No!

Asked about Lifetime Isas at a hearing of the Work and Pensions Committee, she told MPs that there are some circumstances in which a Lifetime Isa would be the best option, but that those with access to a workplace pension or private pension should opt for these first and use a Lifetime Isa only in addition.

'The Lifetime Isa makes sense for somebody who is trying to save for their first home but not someone to opt out of a workplace pension where the most powerful benefit of the workplace pension is the employer contribution,' she said.
