Action Alert:
District 202 Board Goals
Advocate for Focus on Students With IEP's
CASE is continuing to advocate for the District 202 School Board to focus on the needs of students with disabilities as they finalize their goals. This is a link to our article in the Evanston Roundtable outlining the disturbing and unacceptable reading, math and science achievement gap between students with IEP's and those without. Click HERE to read the article.

There is a vocal group that is advocating that students with disabilities do not require a specific focus in the goals.  We strongly disagree.

Here is some of the most recently available data (2014) we reference from the Illinois School Report Card:

Compared to eight neighboring school districts
  • ETHS had the largest achievement gap (between non-IEP and IEP) in reading.
  • ETHS had the largest achievement gap (between non-IEP and IEP) in math.
  • ETHS had the largest achievement gap (between non-IEP and IEP) in science.
  • With the exception of CPS (Chicago Public Schools) and Niles North (1% lower), ETHS had the lowest percentage of IEP students meeting and exceeding standards in reading.
  • With the exception of CPS and Niles West (1% lower), ETHS had the lowest percentage of IEP students meeting and exceeding standards in math.
  • With the exception of CPS and Niles West (2% lower), ETHS had the lowest percentage of IEP students meeting and exceeding standards in science.
Please support our efforts by attending the board meeting on April 6th at 6:00 pm or writing an email to the board. Also, please pass this information along to your networks.  If you have questions, feel free to contact CASE at mail@evanstoncase.org or 847-556-8676.
