National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) 2016

The primary goal of National Youth Leadership Training (NYLT) is to develop leadership skills. To be a good leader, you need knowledge, the right tools, and the chance to practice. At NYLT, you learn how to lead a group, navigate group dynamics and improve group performance. You will learn and then practice these leadership skills:  
    • Communicating Well
    • Finding Your Vision
    • Setting Goals
    • Preparing Plans
    • Developing Your Team 
    • Solving Problems
    • Effective Teaching
    • Resolving Conflict
    • Making Ethical Decisions
    • Leading Yourself
    • Valuing People
    • Servant Leadership

Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills and Boy Scout Leader Training
Introduction to Outdoor Leader Skills (IOLS) will be offered in August and October 2016 at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation.

This course is designed to meet the needs of Scoutmasters; Assistant Scoutmasters, interested Troop Committee Members, new adults from Webelos dens and Commissioners by helping you master basic camp skills required for Tenderfoot to First Class. Boy Scout Leader Specific Training (BSLST) focuses on troop operations and is part of becoming "Trained" for Boy Scout Leaders.  This training will be offered Sunday afternoon immediately following IOLS. If you choose to take both courses, you can be fully trained in one weekend!  Click on a link below to register for IOLS and/or BSLST.

Hawk Mountain Council is now participating in a BSA National Lion Pilot Program. Our council is one of 187 councils nationwide that will deliver this newly written program and provide feedback to ensure the program is sustainable and meets the needs of youngest participants and their families.
