2016 Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation Camping Season
Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation summer camp is safe, affordable and FUN!  For many Scouts, summer camp is the highlight of their year in Scouting. It provides numerous opportunities for Scouts to earn merit badges along their advancement trail. Some activities Scouts can do while camping include swimming, fishing, boating, and hanging out around a campfire. Scouts can do all this, and more, at Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation!  Our 2016 Theme is "Investigation and Emergency Service". Register your Scouts today, so they can enjoy and have a memorable adventure in Scouting.  Call 610-926-3406 or 570-754-7552 for camp site availability.

Additional Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation Camping information can be found HERE.

Attention Troop Leaders ... Remember you can register your scouts and sign them up for their preferred merit badges and activities for summer camp online. Selected merit badges and activities have limited capacity so make sure you are talking with the scouts and parents now.

Just a friendly reminder that the Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation Camp Meade Leader's Meeting will be here before you know it. The meeting is on Sunday, April 17, 2016 and will start promptly at 1:00PM in the Willits Dining Hall (number 22 on our map). Senior Patrol Leaders are encouraged to attend.

Our address is: 402 Blue Mountain Road, Schuylkill Haven, PA 17972. If you are using a GPS, it will lead you to the upper gate of our reservation, please enter at next entrance (sign with hawk on it).

Pinewood Derby at Berkshire Mall
On February 20, 2016 the Hawk Mountain Council will again have its Pinewood Derby at the Berkshire Mall.  The event is open to all registered Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts and Venturers, plus adult leaders, parents and guardians.  The Cub Scouts will compete according to the normal BSA Pinewood Derby rules.  New classes are being introduced this year for older youth and adults who want to compete in the Outlaw classes.  These cars are not limited to the Pinewood Derby kits and can be heavily modified and even propelled.  The one basic rule for the Outlaw classes is that the wooden block must be the chassis of the car.  Otherwise, there are few other rules.  A Facebook page has been created to host the guidebook and to provide a forum for discussing these new classes.  Search for Pinewood Outlaws on facebook or use this link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/508287559350002/

Registration is $5 for all entrants, and an event patch will be provided.  Pre-registration is encouraged, but is not necessary.  Walk-ups may not get an event patch if supplies are gone.  Registration and guidebook is available on our website here.

If you were a Cub Scout and miss the Pinewood Derby, this is your chance to compete again and participate with your Cub Scout.  The Cubs will race first  and the Outlaws will go afterward.  Prizes and trophies will be presented, and the winner from the Cub group will have his car on next year's event patch.  We hope to see everyone there for a fast-paced day of racing and camaraderie.

Now, get busy building that winning car!
