Hawk Mountain Scout Reservation
|
There are still several positions available on the 2014 Reservation staff. Whether you are interested in working the Cub Scout Program, Boy Scout Program, or Support Services (Ranger duties, food service, administration), be sure to submit your application.
A new position that has been added to the staff is Photographer/Media Director. This staff member is responsible for unit photos as well as program photography throughout the week; also included is the production of the weekly DVD. For those interested in Food Service Staff, the largest program area, staff members are eligible for an additional $150 to $250, depending on what position held. Food Service Staff includes cooks, prep-cooks, kitchen utilities, and heater stack drivers (delivering meals to campsites).
So if you are looking to enter the outdoor recreation job market or just to simply gain experience, working at HMSR is a great way to gain experience and build your resume. Here you will serve in a rewarding position where you can be a positive force in the development of future leaders while having "fun with a purpose."
Applications are available at the council service center, Reading, the satellite service center, HMSR, and on the council website. You may submit your completed application to Hawk Mountain Council.
Feel free to contact David Muldowney at 570.754.7552 or email at david.muldowney@scouting.org if you have any questions.

Recharter Turn-In Day
|
The resource center at the Beaver Family Service Center will be open on March 15 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM in an effort to collect any last-minute charters. The Commissioner Staff's goal is to have all charters submitted to the council office by March 15. Although charters remain valid through the end of the month, the March 15 deadline allows a few extra days to collect any missing signatures or Youth Protection certificates without the risk of your unit expiring. Charters can also be turned in any time to the council office or at February or March Roundtable. If you need assistance please contact your unit commissioner or our service center at 610.926.3406.

Important Sales Tax Information
|
Recent changes in Pennsylvania Tax Law has required a change in the way we do business in our Scout Shops. Please note the following changes:
1. Unit Account - If your unit has a unit account with Hawk Mountain Council, you can continue to do your shopping in the Scout Shop and use the Council's tax exempt number. This is possible because the law views the Council to be in "ownership" of the funds being held and ultimately used in the purchase process, therefore allowing the tax exempt number to be used.
If you do not currently have a unit account at the Council office, you may open one at any time.
2.Unit Check or Unit Debit Card - You can use your unit check or debit card to purchase items at the Scout Shop, but as it is not the Council's money, you will need to provide a state sales tax exemption certificate in order to be tax exempt. You can obtain a copy of this form from your Charter Organization, providing they are tax exempt. After providing the form to the Scout Shop, it will be entered and held in the system allowing you to make tax-free purchases in the future without presenting the form each time.
Note: PA Sales Tax REV-717 AS (2-13) is used in determining taxable and tax exempt items.
Please contact our Hawk Mountain Council, 610.926.3406 if you have questions.

The program can only accept 36 scouts and will be on a first-come, first-served basis. Any questions please feel free to call Rudy Benkert, TTE course director, at 570.739.2752.
