The Hawk Mountain Council is excited to introduce the 2014 Camp Card Program.  We have partnered with ENTERTAINMENT to provide you with a card that will be a great value for customers.

2013 Popcorn Sale

The Show and Sell sales are done. The take orders have been completed.  All that is left is to deliver the product.  Thank you to everyone who participated in the popcorn sale.  It was a huge success.  The 2013 popcorn  was a record breaking sale.  Total popcorn sales increased by 12%.  This fall, Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Venturers, packs, troops, and crews earned close to $130,000.  This money will be used by units to fund their local program and help the youth pay their way to camp.

Units will receive their invoices when they pick up their popcorn on November 14.  A reminder - final payments are due by November 27, 2013.  If your unit qualified for the extra incentive of exceeding your 2012 total sales, your unit's Cubmaster or Scoutmaster will receive a check from the council for the appropriate amount.

Social Media

In addition to websites, unit social media sites, pages, log-ins or handles created by individuals at the unit level of Scouting are essentially personal, and therefore beyond the National Council's and Hawk Mountain Council's control or liability.  Guidelines are established to help avoid several common mistakes.  Click here for National Council guidelines to social medial.

Remember......Protection of personal information pertaining to our youth members and volunteers should be our greatest concern.

Unit social media sites, pages and posts should:

  1. Have content appropriate to the Scouting movement.
  2. Not house any sites that contain material inappropriate to the Scouting movement.
  3. Not contain any advertisements or commercial endorsements unless they are automatically added by the site host (such as ads on Facebook).
  4. Not engage in the electronic sale of BSA Supply Division merchandise or competing products.
  5. Not replicate any BSA publication currently for sale through the Supply Division.
  6. Abide by all laws regarding copyrights, trademarks, and other intellectual property, and by those pertaining to the Internet.
  7. Consider the safety and privacy of their members and participants by obtaining the necessary permissions to release information about or images of any individual (e.g. use of photo consent forms).
  8. Not engage in fund-raising except as directly approved by, and under the supervision of, the local council.

Look for more social media guidelines in future Scoutwires.
