A Breakfast Cereal Caution

Processed foods are nutrient deficient requiring food, manufacturers to add back nutrients lost in processing.  This practice is referred to as fortified and comes with two cautions from me. 
1) the fortified version of nutrients are synthetic making their positive nutritional impact  questionable at best. Fortified does not equate to the same physiological impact as real, whole, nutritious food.

2) over zealous manufacturers are adding some key nutrients at levels that could actually be dangerous to young developing minds and bodies.  In nature, vitamins and minerals occur in combinations and amounts that nourish.  When we try to mimic nature, we stand the chance of being wrong.  Really wrong.   Read More

Soup is a comforting way to warm from the inside out.  Here are a couple of my favorites.  Our family is gluten free so my recommendations are as well.  If you are not, you can replace the thickening agents like arrowroot with standard wheat flour.
