Fueling an Athlete...Eat Like a Pro

Diabetes type 2 in a professional athlete?  How can this be? I believe we are mistakenly lead down a path filled with empty carbohydrates and nutrient deficient refueling tools by old school FDA regulated nutritional guidelines. Fueling an athlete, and especially a young athlete whose body is also growing, requires nutrients.  Read this amazing story on how the LA Lakers wake-up call offered them an entirely new approach to nutritionally supporting their team and prevented the onset of diabetes type 2 in one of their athletes.   Read More

The Morning After

Play a little too hard and paying the price the next day?  Whether it's over fed, over sugared or over served, here are some recovery helpers!

Coconut Water - Rehydrates and re-alkalizes supporting the body's ability to assimilate water and nutrients again.  Sugar, alcohol and rich food will dehydrate and deplete  your body.  Harmless harvest is actually yummy.

Fish Oil, Fermented Cod Liver Oil  (EFA's)  - these will promote your anti-inflammatory resources to get to work ridding your body of wastes, and the pounding head.

Barlean's Fish Oil

Green Drinks - and finally, the dark leafies in concentration will bind with those unwanted remains from too much festivity and help remove them.  Simultaneously, they replenish lost nutrients.  Dark mixed greens and collards are amazing.  Add blueberries, raspberries and some pineapple, with twist of lime!  Bottoms up...again!  More greens recipes.

If you know you are going to indulge, prepare ahead with plenty of water, a good dose of B vitamins, and carry some digestive enzymes to help process all that party food!  Take these remedies before you head to bed and again when you wake for best results.  Party on....

Delicious Holiday Additions

If the recipe comes from me, it's simple as creativity in the kitchen is not my hobby, but I love good healthy food.  All selections are naturally gluten free or offer a gluten free option.  Enjoy!
