Holiday Parade

 

The 63rd Annual Holiday Parade presented by H-E-B will take place in downtown Houston Thanksgiving morning with the theme "Celebrate Holidays Around the World." The parade starts at 9am at the intersection of Crawford and Texas, near Minute Maid Park. General admission is free with reserved seating on sale here. Proceeds from reserved seating ticket sales benefit the Festival education programs reaching more than 1,471 public schools each year and the Houston Chronicle "Readers are Leaders" literacy program.

 

Solid Waste Holiday Trash Pick Up Schedule

 

Please note the adjusted Solid Waste Management trash pick up schedule during the Thanksgiving and Christmas holiday. Should you have any questions, please call 3-1-1.

 

Mayor's Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting to Take Place November 30th

 

Ring in the season with the Mayor's Holiday Celebration and Tree Lighting on Friday, November 30th in front of City Hall (901 Bagby Houston, TX 77002) starting at 6pm. The annual event will include music, the tree lighting ceremony, and a firework show.

 

Seven-time Grammy Award winner, Dennis Edwards and The Temptations Review will headline the event with their legendary Motown sounds. Other performances will include Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts; "Fort Sam's Own" 323d Army Biohazard Brass Band, and the MacArthur Jammin' Generals Drumline, under the direction of Marcie Chapa.

The Salvation Army of the Greater Houston Area will also be in attendance collecting new, unwrapped toys during the event.

Natural Pawz Donates $25,000 of Food and Supplies to BARC

 

Biff and Nadine Joli-Coeur of Natural Pawz presented the third annual "Pawz for a Cauze" donation to BARC to help support their foster program. BARC is the City of Houston's animal shelter and adoption facility. In addition to sheltering and providing veterinary care to all animals brought to the shelter, BARC works to place animals in new homes.

 

This year, Natural Pawz donated $25,000 of food and supplies for BARC's animals. Council Member Christie joined BARC to accept the 10,000 pound donation.
