The contented mind is the only riches, the only quietness, the only happiness.

Dear
Erin Parkin

This spring I had a chance to reflect on how all things are changing and the gift of each special moment. My family was blessed to have a pair of robins make their home on our front porch. We observed as they readied their nest, took turns sitting on their precious eggs and in a very short time welcomed four sweet chicks into the world.

Born virtually naked, bone thin with bulging little eyes they looked like tiny dinosaurs yet with each passing day they seemed to double in size.
The nest that just a few weeks earlier seemed spacious was suddenly overflowing with chubby little birdies as they began to play with stretching out their newly feathered wings and then, just like that, they were gone.

We watched as they left the safety of the nest, high away from harm, and leaped into the unknown.

Watching these little birdies was much like watching my own sweet babes grow but in fast forward. One moment they are but a promise hidden away from the world beneath a protective shell
. The next moment, nearly grown but still small and vulnerable, taking a leap of faith from the safe confines of a too-small nest to make their own way through the world.  All things are changing.

Each moment is special. Sometimes in life we become absorbed in preparing for what may come to pass or pining for what once was. This can serve as a distraction from living. Yoga reminds us and provides us with the tools to be present in what is, right now. All things are changing.

I invite you to join me in the studio on Tuesday mornings at 9:15 am for Yoga Basics as we practice being mindfully present in each moment and movement of our asana practice, growing the awareness of our body, mind and spirit.
