Membership Excellence. More than a numbers game?

In this membership excellence focused opinion piece Jane Galbraith, Head of Membership at the Chartered Institute of Linguists, considers the following killer questions -

Is achieving excellence in the diverse and intricate world of the professional association really attainable? Are membership professionals all slaves to the metrics in pursuit of excellence? New Resource - Office Holder Job Descriptions

Office Holder roles are important. The individuals carrying
out these critical roles are responsible for setting clear and focused strategy and direction. These responsibilities need to be communicated clearly from the get-go.

As a sector we are using variable quality/detailed job  descriptions and person specifications. Some are too basic and others lack important detail. In response we have created a suite of best practice job descriptions for the following roles:

- President
- Vice President
- Chair or Chairman
- Treasurer or Honorary Treasurer
- Board Member/Trustee
- Chief Executive Officer (CEO)

The templates are located in the Insight Portfolio on the new MemberWise website and are available completely free of charge. Read more...

CPD Consultancy Service
Case Study - Royal Academy of Dance (RAD)

The RAD recently commissioned an independent review of its newly introduced CPD scheme in order to assess the appropriateness of its structure, content, processes and the positive outcomes it was delivering to both national and international members.

The resulting report was targeted, insightful and comprehensive enabling the Academy to begin to develop a clear action plan to ensure the scheme is not only sustainable but that it exceeds members' expectations in the value it delivers.

The Academy would completely recommend this service to fellow associations and membership organisations.
