CRM/Database Focus Group - Have your say!

Focus GroupIndependent consultants Purple Vision are looking for experienced professionals to help evaluate new tools for membership management and marketing.

Building on the renowned Salesforce.com platform, a number of exciting new online association management systems have recently been developed.

Many of these systems have already been adopted by US organisations, and they are soon to be available in the UK. But which features are most suitable, and what do UK membership organisations need from the next generation of technology "in the cloud"?

We are looking for volunteers to take part in a series of early evening focus groups during the week commencing 3rd June 2013.

If you would like to take part and find out about these new technology opportunities please register your interest HERE.

We plan to publish the outcomes, and as a thank you for those who take part we are offering £20 John Lewis vouchers.

We are pleased to announce this year's first confirmed Offical Partner is APT Solutions and our four Offical Supporters include Premier IT, Think, IndigoBlue and Bottomline Technologies.

MemberWise Founder, Richard Gott, commented:

'We are really excited about delivering this year's conference as there is much more support for the concept behind the conference. Most people really get what we are trying to achieve. One of the core objectives of the event is to promote better utilisation of web not  technology for technologies sake.'

What's in it for me? Free Presentation Download...

Lunch and Learn ImageIn April we held our first membership focused Lunch and Learn of 2013 (hosted by Kingston Smith) - What's in it for me?

The free event was attended by over 70 senior membership organisation and association professionals and delegate feedback  was positive.

Content focused on the challenge to clearly communicate and reinforce the 'WIFM' factor. This included how to generate enhanced membership value and engagement levels - in most cases at little or no extra financial cost!

The presentation is now available for you to download so if you were unable to attend or if you wish to revisit the key themes from the event please click HERE

The next Kingston Smith 'Lunch and Learn' will focus on governance and further information will be communicated over the coming months.

Membership Research Conference - 3 weeks to go!

Member Research Conference

Our dedicated conference is now only 3 weeks away. Over 50 delegates have registered to attend and we are now debating the structure of 'the perfect membership survey'.

23rd May, One Whitehall Place, London

The conference will enable you to develop a more informed and structured approach to member research. This will lead to richer quantitative/qualitative results that will better inform future member value proposition creation/development. In turn, this should help you to improve member retention, recruitment and income generation.

Delegates will enjoy 8 dedicated sessions that will be 'brought-to-life' via case studies including BVA, BOHS, CIMA, IOSH, IPU, PMI and RCP.

50 delegates representing high profile organisations including the ACCA, IoD and RCN have already registered to attend.

And finally - Something to make you think...

Our network is all about sharing so here is our regular 'Think Piece' article submitted by Susie Kay from The Professionalism Group.

ThinkIn the wake of the Francis report into the shocking events at Mid-Staffs hospital, criticism has been aimed at staff at all levels of the organisation, as well as the culture which had been allowed to develop over a very long period.

Several 'lessons learned' are emerging as a result of turning a spotlight on why things happened in the way they did.  One of the most transportable is "Never waste a crisis". This is great advice for any organisation.

The details about the breakdown of care and trust should be a wake-up call to everyone to ensure that those in authority are neither blind nor deaf to issues within their own organisations, nor should they seek shelter behind the 'I was doing it for the good of the organisation' façade.

So there are questions to ask of your own organisation:

1. How much do your staff care about your members?

2. If a member of staff had discovered a problem would they:

a. Find it easy to come to you with an issue?

b. Have the confidence to blow the whistle?
c. Have the backup they needed while the issue was checked out?

You may think you know the answers and you may think the answers are obvious but the events the Francis report relates are chilling in terms of the collective culture of lack of care.

It's easy to support staff in good times, offering them congratulations on a job well done, but are you set up to deal with the problems should they arise?

If you need to think about it then let's talk

We are always looking to develop and improve our monthly e-update so if you would like to submit ideas/recommendations or enquire about sponsoring the next issue please get in-touch!

Yours Sincerely,
