General Manager's Update
I hope this newsletter finds you well. I got back from NUSA last week just in time to sit in on the Saturday combined meeting of the 3 Plan Review Committees where your dedicated Neighborhood Council leaders struggled long and hard to successfully come up with a new stakeholder definition. Check out Commissioner Doug Epperhart's article below for the details.

I was really inspired by the committee members' pluck in tackling challenging issues not only during Saturday's 4 hour meeting, but for the past 4 months as well - all for the sake of bettering the Neighborhood Council system. We all owe these volunteers a lot of gratitude for stepping up and to the Board of Neighborhood Commissioners for leading the charge, too.
I'm happy to report that the new Neighborhood Council Funding Program ordinance was approved on Wednesday by City Council. Many thanks to Councilmember Parks and to the City Attorney's Office in making this one of the fastest ordinances to be enacted. The ordinance is expected to go into effect by early July so we will be racing on our side to get everything into place for the launch. It has been all hands on deck for our staff to close down the old funding system and create a new one simultaneously, so I have to appreciate their great efforts, particularly our Funding Program Director, Armando Ruiz, and Neighborhood Empowerment Advocate Betty Wong Oyama, who have been keeping everything on course.
Don't forget about the biggest block party in LA on June 7th where we will celebrate Mayor Villaraigosa and welcome Mayor Elect Eric Garcetti.
If I don't see you at the LANCC tomorrow, have a relaxing weekend!
 Best,
Grayce Liu,
General Manager
