HIGHLIGHTS
Congratulations to these dogs and their owners for achieving something extraordinary!
  • FC-AFC Dottie Ray's League of Her Own (6.2 yo BLF) and owner Andy Kahn earned a Double Header at Sagehens. And the good news doesn't stop there. He and his dogs took 14 of the 19 All-Age points awarded at the trial.
  • Two dogs trained by Wild Wind Kennels placed first and titled at two different trials last weekend. Riverwatch Lucky Shadow, owned by Mark and
Suzanne Medford and handled by Chris Ledford, won the Open
at the Middle Tennessee Amateur Retriever Club and completed his FC.
And FC NTK's Rock Me On The Water, owned and handled by Deb Stukey, won the Amateur at the Central Savannah Area Retriever Club and completed his AFC.
  • FC-AFC Biggun's Wild Rose Warrior MH (BLF, 9.7 yo), owned by Alice Woodyard, has earned 56 All-Age points.
  • NAFC-FC Dottie Ray's Ivy League (BLF, 8.4 yo), owned by Andy Kahn, has earned 155 All-Age points.
  • FC-AFC Mulligan Off the Rainy "T," owned by Randy Spangler has won back-to-back Opens. Wayne Curtis (Fox Hollow Retrievers) handled at Chippewa Valley and Randy handled at Watopa.

  • Age Matters
  • In the Open: The oldest dog that finished last weekend was 10.4 years old, FC-AFC Texaco's High Tesse, owned and handled by Alex Abraham. The youngest dog finishing an Open was 2.8 years old - Bring It On, owned by Cynthia Tallman and handled by Jim Gonia (McKenna Kennals).
  • In the Amateur: The oldest dog that finished  last weekend was 11.4 years old, FC-AFC Big Alfonse Capone of Mo-Kan, owned and handled by Bob Hayden. The youngest dog finishing an Amateur was 2.3 years old - The South Will Rise Again owned and handled by Larry Soles.
  • In the Qualifying: The youngest dog finishing a Qualifying was 1.8 years old - Sureshot's Strong to the Finish, owned and handled by Amy Hunt (Beck Retrievers).
  • In the Derby: There were nine Derbys last weekend, representing 36 placements. One-third of the dogs placing were 1.9 years old. The youngest dog to finish a Derby was 1.2 years old - Laguna Creek's First Mate, owned and handled by Sonya Harrigfeld. Yellowjackets Grand Prize, owned by Nelson Sills and handled by Nancy Sills is just three days older.
  •
  • Mario Matteoli has always loved grandmother Julie Cole's Chesapeakes. From a young age he traveled to field trials with her. Three years ago, Julie asked him if he would like to run her dog Primer in a Field Trial and Mario was all in. He then started working with her dog Twister. While at first it wasn't pretty, Mario never got frustrated or gave up. At the ACC Specialty two weekends ago, Mario and Twister ran two series in the Open, three series in the Am, half a series in the Q and four series in the Derby. Mario was cool on the line and, according to his grandmother, Twister has never looked so good.
