If you run dogs in fields you're already familiar with ticks. AKC CHF publishes a series of alerts and tips about dealing with ticks. You can read more here.
This week's topic is Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever, a zoonotic disease. Transmitted by the lone star tick, symptoms can include:
- Acute fever
- Depression and/or lack of energy
- Arthritis like stiffness when walking
- Neurological abnormalities

The USDA announced a three-year conservation strategy to guide the voluntary restoration of 500,000 acres of habitat for the Lesser Prairie Chicken. According to NRCS Chief Jason Weller, this program "works with agricultural producers to both restore habitat and make working lads more productive and resilient to wildfire and climatic extremes."
