HOW TO TREAT CHIGGER BITES
One of the best parts of training dogs is going to all sorts of places you might not otherwise visit. Unfortunately, some of the natives found there aren't exactly friendly.

Wikihow has published a comprehensive article that reviews different methods for treating chigger bites.

You can read more here.

THEY ATE WHAT?
Check out the winners of the Veterinary Practice News Annual Contest. This year's contest was sponsored by Trupanion pet insurance. First prize received $1,500.

The winner, a year old Doberman Pinscher, ate 26 golf balls.
ALL ABOUT BLOAT
When you own retrievers or other large breed dogs, the risk of bloat comes with the territory.

Here are the symptoms published by VetDepot.com:
Phase 1:
  • Anxious and restless
  • Distended abdomen
  • Unsuccessful attempt to belch or vomit
Phase 2:
  • Excessive salivation
  • Rapid heartbeat
Phase 3:
  • Weakness
  • Shortness of breath
  • Pale gums
GROWTH PLATES
Neutering dogs at too young an age can interfere with the closure of the growth plates.
